ARK: Astrodelphis – How to tame, feed and breed!

German English

The Astrodelphis came with the DLC Genesis: Part 2 to ARK: Survival Evolved and can only be found there in the Void. Untamed, i.e. in the wild, the Astrodelphis is relatively harmless, but can do some damage using her saddle, especially via ranged attacks.

Find out everything you need to know about the space dolphin in our Astrodelphis guide. But also how to catch, tame, feed and breed offspring.

This is the Astrodelphis in ARK: Survival Evolved

Appearance: The Astrodelphis is a space dolphin that is somewhat fused with an orca. He has the typical characteristics of a dolphin that we know. In addition, the Astrodelphis has several fins that make it look majestic when flying or swimming, and a total of two pairs of eyes.

Wild: Like the Ichtyosaurus, the Astrodelphis is very curious and will swim up to you to examine you. However, he will attack you with full force if you attack or provoke him.

tamed: You can use the Astrodelphis in space and underwater as a mount. If you have his saddle, he is even faster and has a turret. With grenades in his inventory you can throw them. It is therefore also suitable as a fighting animal when it comes to attacks from a distance.

Once you kill an enemy, purple bubbles will form, giving you a buff as you swim through them, with increased attack power, speed, and defense. If you defeat a second opponent and swim through the purple bubbles again, the buff will be extended.

How to tame the Astrodelphis in ARK

The Astrodelphis is passively tamed by feeding it Element. To do this, place the item on the far right side of your inventory and wait for the curious space dolphin to come to you, similar to the ichthyosaur. Once the command “Enter element to tame” lights up, you can run it.

You may need to repeat this procedure more than once, depending on the level of copy you want. It can happen that the Astrodelphis swims away and only comes back later. For this reason, you must have a mount with you that can overtake you.

Basically, you have to be careful that neither you nor the Astrodelphis are attacked by predators while taming.

How to make the Astrodelphis saddle?

To make the Astrodelphis saddle, you need to have level 120 and 60 Engram points to unlock the recipe. You now need the following resources to craft:

  • 2500 metal blocks
  • 500 polymer
  • 370 crystal
  • 140 black pearls

You can get the saddle earlier through the quest with the Astrodelphis or through supply crates.

How to grow the Astrodelphis in ARK

This is how you prepare the cultivation: If you have a male and female specimen, you will build an enclosure that is large enough at best. Put both dinos in the pen and set them to “wander” via the command menu. Alternatively, you can also switch directly to “Pair”, but then there must always be a player nearby, otherwise the pairing will stop due to playback.

The breeding interval of an Astrodelphis is 18 to 48 hours.

After successful mating, if you play on the default settings, the female Astrodelphis will be pregnant for about 8 hours. After these 8 hours you can welcome the little Astrodelphis baby into the world. As a baby, it takes another 5.5 hours of your attention, always having to stock up on food. Pay attention to the embossing intervals every 8 hours to tickle the greatest potential from the baby.

Once it has reached juvenile status, it can eat on its own. The full maturation time takes about 2 days and 6.5 hours.
